Molly Meldrum meets grandson for first time

MOLLY Meldrum now likes to be called Grandpa Guru.

Meldrum met his first grandson, Jason, for the first time, when his son, Morgan, and his partner, Crystal Scholes, arrived from China on Friday.

Meldrum said it was a joy to meet 10-month-old Jason, who immediately got settled in his Richmond home.

"It was a bit nerve-racking to meet them for the first time but he is very cute,'' he said.

"He was only here for an hour and he was playing with Ziggy and he smiles all the time."

Jason took like a duck to a water when presented with one of his Grandpa's famous cowboy hats.

The family, based in China, will head to the Australian Open to watch Li Na play in the women's final.

"They will be barracking in Mandarin," Meldrum said.
